Nail Guide for the Modern Bride

Featuring the queen of nail art - Adele Williamson of You’re Gettin’ Nails.

Can you tell me a little bit about yourself and your business?

I am a licensed manicurist and nail artist and operate out of a private studio, You’re Gettin’ Nails. I offer manicure-only services, and I specialize in detailed cuticle care, gel-only natural nail manicures, and hand-painted  nail art designs.

How often should one get their nails done?

To maintain healthy nails and skin and to keep your nails fresh, I recommend getting a  manicure every 3-5 weeks. it’s important to find a nail tech who is knowledgeable and can explain their processes to you, and who cares about the integrity of your natural nail plate during the product removal process, etc.

What kind of timeline should a bride be on for manicures/ last appointment prior to the wedding?

Start a consistent manicure schedule 3-4 months before your big day, and have one of those appointments be a trial for your wedding design. I would put your bridal/wedding appointment no more than 5-7 days before the wedding.

Any advice on maintenance between appointments/ nail and cuticle health.

To ensure your manicure lasts between appointments, wear gloves every time you are scrubbing/cleaning or doing dishes and oil your nails and cuticles with cuticle oil at least 2 times a day. Wedding week I would be oiling multiple times a day, especially after your final appointment leading up to the big day.  An oil rich in Vitamin E oil is preferred over lotion.

What is your favorite nail design for brides?

I love when brides do something subtle but fun. A colored or glitter French is a great way to stay classic while adding some flavor.

Aesthetics Guide for the Modern Bride

Featuring The Atlanta Injector - Allie McAllister,NP-C, DCNP

Can you tell me a little bit about yourself and your business?

The Atlanta Injectors at Lemmon Avenue Atlanta is the leading luxury aesthetic practice in Atlanta committed to helping women feel and look their best. We offer custom botox, filler, and medical skin treatments and are known for delivering natural results.

What are the benefits of Botox? How often should a bride to be get it leading up to  the wedding?

Botox helps to smooth wrinkles and fine lines. We ideally see our brides as soon as they’re engaged so we can make a custom plan prior to their big day. Botox takes 2 weeks to fully settle and lasts 3 months. So in a perfect world we would treat 4-5 months prior to your wedding, then again about a month before!

What are the benefits of filler? If a bride is curious how far out should they test it  out?

Dermal Fillers are gels made out of hyaluronic acid, which is found naturally in the skin. We use filler to create facial balance. This is all based on your unique facial anatomy, so an in person consultation is a great place to start. Our most common treatments for filler are enhancing jawline sharpness and adding subtle volume to the lips.

Advice for first timers.

Start with an in person consultation. We love to create a customized plan that fits your desires and budget. Give us as much time as possible to make sure you feel your best on your big day.

What is your favorite treatment for future brides and why?

I can’t pick just one! I love when brides focus on skin health, treatments like microneedling stimulate collagen which is the antiaging key! Conservative botox is another treatment that helps brides feel their most confident on their wedding day!

Any tips for wedding prep?

My biggest tip is to remember that this time is a celebration between you and your partner! It’s such a special time and the planning (and opinions) can get overwhelming! For your aesthetic treatments, start early! A rushed timeline adds to stress!

Wellness Guide for the Modern Bride

Featuring Heather Tazza of A Beautiful Mind Wellness…

Can you tell me a little bit about yourself and your business?

- Namaste! I’m Heather, a certified yoga teacher and have my own private yoga biz called A Beautiful Mind Wellness. I teach private sessions, group classes, and events. For the mind, body, soul.

What are the benefits of meditation? Any tips for creating a space for meditation?

-Ultimately, meditation causes a shift in awareness. Mediation reduces mental and physical stress, improves emotional health, cognitive focus, and helps you to live in the present moment. It is an incredible tool to give you perspective and clarity on your internal issues, which ultimately affect your external world.

-‘Sacred Space’ is what we refer to in meditation. Creating that sacred space for yourself is so important. I would suggest choosing an area in your living space where there will be less distraction. Then you can add a meditation cushion, some crystals or candles, plants, music, whatever helps you calm. I personally meditate in silence on my porch every morning and use incense to get me in the mindset.

What are the benefits of yoga?

-Yoga is a form of moving meditation but mainly develops the breath and strength of the mind body connection. It helps you stay grounded, present and let out any negative or stuck energies. Scientific evidence says yoga also supports stress management, mental health, mindfulness, healthy eating, weight loss and quality sleep.

How can you connect yoga and meditation with the modern bride?

-Wedding planning can be a stressful time. Yoga and meditation are the perfect tools to help a bride stay calm and peaceful in the chaos. It can help lower her stress levels so that when the big day comes she is glowing from the inside out. Yoga and meditation will not only help a modern bride look and feel her best, but also stay present and enjoy this special time, focusing on celebrating the love that is happening rather than over-stress and forget the true meaning.

As a yoga teacher, what kind of classes do you teach?

-I teach a wide range of yoga classes including vinyasa, hatha, flow, ashtanga, yin, meditation, pranayama and more. I specialize in working one on one with private clients specific issues ranging from anxiety/depression, pregnancy, cancer, new to yoga, or for fun etc. In regard to weddings my favorite event to host is teaching a special yoga experience class for bachelorette parties or wedding weekends.

Any tips for wedding prep?

-Take up a daily yoga and meditation practice Now. Even if you can only start with a few minutes a day, prioritizing the time consistently will benefit all aspects of your life.

Don’t forget to Meditate the morning of your wedding! Meditation can really help you stay present and appreciate the day as it flows along. As well as stay calm if any obstacles arise. Take some deep breaths and smile :) Namaste
